Us Weekly features

I helped steer the editorial direction and content development of Us Weekly, one of the most widely read publications in the marketplace, under then-editor in chief Janice Min.

Over my journey at Us Weekly, I crafted portfolios that earned the magazine GLAAD Media Award nominations for “Overall Excellence” in 2008, 2011 and 2012. Here’s a letter from Editor-in-Chief Janice Min about our first GLAAD nod. And here’s another editor’s letter with Tom Cruise about my visit to the Mission Impossible 3 set.

As the Senior Film Editor, I spearheaded the weekly “Us Musts” reviews section, editing movie, book, music and digital reviews; conducted high-profile interviews with talent for the magazine and website; produced reports from the Oscars (backstage at the event seven times) as well as the Sundance, Toronto and Cannes film festivals; wrote and hosted digital Usmagazine.com segments; programmed panels with talent and executives; appeared regularly on CNN and MSNBC and across the TV landscape discussing film and news; and developed strong relationships with celebrity representatives and studio execs to ensure Us maintained access to top talent.

I regularly conducted and co-produced Us Weekly live events in front of hundreds of staffers and key clients.

While I mostly line-edited features, here are a few examples of the light and bright entertainment pieces I wrote year after year:

• Sundance — Five Standout Flicks

• The Race to the Oscars

• Oscar Night: Burning Questions

• Oscar Nominees’ Secret Pasts!

• Cannes Film Fest Preview
